Selena Gomez's admittance to rehab last month has been shrouded in mystery, but insiders close to the star have rubbished ongoing rumours of drug use, claiming the reason for her stay was that she just needed time to rest as she was "burnt out".
The Come and Get singer alarmed fans in December last year when she announced that she was cancelling the Australian and Asian leg of her Stars Dance tour so that she could have some personal time.
"It has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be," the Disney star said in a statement at the time where she also apologised to her fans.
It was later revealed that Selena had spent two weeks at the Dawn at The Meadows recovery centre in Arizona on January 5.

Now insiders have revealed the 21-year-old was "burnt out" from a gruelling schedule of concerts, tours and movies, voluntarily admitting herself to rehab where she could have a much-needed break.
A source told Billboard.com: "Project wellness. She was burnt out after a relentless year of back-to-back films, concerts, TV, touring and all the promotional work that goes along with it. She needed a break."
Going on to address widely reported allegations that Selena had been using multiple drugs before her spell in rehab, the source slammed the claims, insisting the singer is not that type of girl.
''She's not that girl. Does she party and have the occasional joint? Yes. Does she drink when she goes out? Yes. But she's not struggling with drug addiction or alcoholism. I've never seen her out of control,'' the source added.
