Selena Gomez has implied that her break-up from Justin Bieber made her realise what she needed to do in terms of her career.
The star, who released her album Stars Dance in 2013, explained to Seventeen that she "felt like an underdog" in the industry before she decided to majorly up her game following the split.
"I questioned the way I looked, acted, sang, and wrote," she said. "I started becoming very stale with my music, and I realised that I was doing things for other people.

"Then I turned 20, went through a really bad breakup, and realised I needed to pick up everything."
The star continued: "I needed to have 'Come & Get It' be amazing. I wanted it all to be me. I was tired of feeling defeated.

"All this time, I was trying to figure out why I felt like such an underdog, and I finally realised I just wasn't ready. I'm glad it's taken me this long to get where I am because now I am ready for it."
All seems to be sunnier now in Selenaland - she has gone from strength to strength in her career (Razzie nomination aside) and, what's more, she even seems to be friends with Bieber again.
