Co-Star Jordin Sparks Speaks Out About Working With Whitney Houston In Final Film Role

The death of Whitney Houston left many in shock, despite the stars drug troubles, many remembered her as the fresh faced singer with a voice that few could believe was so strong.

Yet Whitney lives on in her music, and stars in new movie 'Sparkle', despite her sad departure.

Co-star Jordin Sparks has now spoken out about working with the musical legend, telling Celebuzz of her feelings when she found out that the woman she'd been working with closely was gone forever.

Sparks said: “I lost all feeling. I couldn’t move, I couldn’t say anything. I don’t think I was breathing.”

She added: “I still have moments where it hits me and it’s like, she’s not here, there’s this void.”

The youngest winner of American Idol spoke fondly of Houston's reassurance and nurturing on set, saying: "It was the scariest thing I’ve ever done and I never performed that song before in a concert, so I remember being on stage being ready to walk out and hearing her going, ‘You got this, you got this.’”

Sparks added: "She put my head in her hands and looked at me and said, ‘You’re everything that we wanted,

“To have your idol tell you that — that was the type of woman she was. She was so nurturing and wanted to see everybody else succeed. She just wanted to see us do well.”

UK cinema goers will be able to see Houson's final role in 'Sparkle', which chronicles a girl group's journey to become Motown sensations in the 1960s, in October.
