Star Wars Episode VII Newcomer Domhnall Gleeson Says First Reading Was 'Surreal And Ridiculously Exciting'

Star Wars Episode VII newbie Domhnall Gleeson has described the "surreal" experience of sitting in a room with his childhood heroes for the first read-through for JJ Abrams' movie.

The Dublin born actor was announced this week as one of the cast-members for the reboot of the classic film franchise. Domhnall, who up until now is best known for his lead role in Richard Curtis' severely underrated About Time, joined his co-stars at the UK's Pinewood Studios this week for their first read-through.

With original trio Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill all back to reprise their roles of Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker, Domhnall has described being in a room with them as "ridiculously exciting".

Speaking to RTÉ TEN, Gleeson said of the script read-through session captured in a photo released alongside the casting announcement this week: "It was totally surreal to me; surreal is the word. And amazing."

He continued: "Getting to see those people from your childhoods... Getting to see them still be amazing, still just nail it in the room was ridiculously exciting and something [his casting] I did not expect to happen. So it was a weird, brilliant day."
