Strictly Come Dancing: Louis Smith Had The Time Of His Life As He Re-enacted Dirty Dancing Routine

BBC Pictures

Dancing to Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes’ infamous classic ‘I’ve Had The Time Of My Life’ from hit rom-com Dirty Dancing, Louis and Flavia transported the audience back to the 80’s with their sensual salsa during this week’s Hollywood themed show.

Dressed in a black shirt and black trousers, Louis showed off some fabulous hip action as he emulated Patrick Swayze who played dance instructor Johnny Castle in the film. Looking pretty in a pink, sequined dress, Flavia took on the role of Baby who along with Louis portrayed some of the moves in the film that are now so recognisable.  None more so than THAT infamous lift at the end- which Louis perfected!

Launching Flavia into the air and holding that world famous pose, Louis looked like a modern day Patrick Swayze and appeared chuffed as the audience took to their feet in a standing ovation.

The judges too were clearly amazed with Craig Revel Horwood labelling it as “contained, simmering and understated.”

The couple had a total score of 30, putting them in second place behind leader Denise Van Outen and her partner James Jordan.

This is Louis’ second week of excellent scores as he had previously scored 30 points for his waltz with Flavia, proving that the Gymnast is a man of many talents.

In comparison, his fellow Olympian Victoria Pendleton appears to be struggling as she languished in the middle of the leader board. Scoring a disappointing 22 points with her rumba with Brendan Cole, the gold medallist appeared to be having difficulty transferring her talents to the dance floor.

See how the Olympians get on in tomorrow night’s results show.
