Taylor Swift's new song 'I Knew You Were Trouble' might be a more edgy sound than we're used to from the pop star, but according to the 22 year-old it came from a real life experience when she went out with someone, despite knowing it would be “dangerous”.
In the song, Taylor, who is currently dating One Direction heart-throb Harry Styles, gets her heartbroken by someone “dangerous” and admitting it's something she's never been through before the star told MTV: "I had just gone through an experience that made me write this song about like knowing the second you see someone, 'Oh this is going to be interesting. It's going to be dangerous, but look at me going in there anyway'.”
In the past, Swifty has dated a string of Hollywood hunks including bad boy John Mayer, so was he the subject of her song? He's already been given the Taylor treatment on her previous track, 'Dear John' which was a thinly veiled attack at the singer. But was this song about him too? It was definitely a “dangerous” relationship.
She went on: "I think that for me, it was the first time I ever kind of noticed that in myself.”
“When you are curious about something you know might be bad for you but you know that you are going to go for it anyway because, if you don't, you'll have greater regrets about not seeing where that would go.”
Taylor added: "I think for me it all went along with this record that was pushing boundaries, like the sound of this record pushes boundaries [and] it was writing about something I hadn't written before."
