Victoria Beckham 'Bemused' By Katherine Jenkins' Public Denial Of David Beckham Affair

A source close to the Beckhams has claimed that Victoria is "bemused" by Katherine Jenkins' very public denial of an affair with her husband David.

The classical singer took to Twitter this week to blast what she called "horrible rumours" of her affair with the married father of four, in a series of tweets Katherine posted:

“Dear Twitter friends, I’ve read some horrible rumours on here & want u 2 know I absolutely deny I’ve had an affair with David Beckham."

“The rumours are hurtful, untrue & my lawyers tell me actionable.”

Katherine has come under fire from the public and celebs like Lily Allen for addressing the rumours which most people had never actually heard of until she tweeted! The Beckhams themselves are also said to be confused and shocked by the Welsh star's statement.

An insider in the Beckham camp has told The Mirror that Victoria knows the allegations of an affair are "nonsense" and does not feel the need to respond.  The source added:

“Both she and David are a bit bemused as to why Katherine felt the need to do this in the first place. Victoria and David haven’t needed to have conversations about the claims.”

Despite claiming they felt no need to publicaly respond, David's spokesman was forced to issue a statement yesterday due to the fear that Katherine's denials would only fuel the rumours. The spokesman told Entertainmentwise yesterday (August 24):

“Unfortunately, we have to deal with this type of nonsense on Twitter. One minute David is dead, then more scurrilous rumours, there is not one jot of truth to any of it.”

Although the affair rumours aren't well-known, speculation of Becks infidelity with Katherine has been circulating on Twitter for weeks with some online commentators even suggesting that the alleged affair was covered by a super-injunction.

Last night, a source close to Katherine revealed to The Mirror she felt “compelled” to defend herself publicly after being hounded by Twitter trolls:

“She was being bombarded by hate messages from strangers, calling her every name under the sun. It was nasty, abusive and plain wrong."

"Katherine felt she had no option but to come out fighting and clear up these rumours once and for all. It’s been a horrible experience."
