X Factor's Eoghan Quigg 'proud' of One Direction's Liam Payne

X Factor alumni Eoghan Quigg is proud of best mate Liam Payne's success in One Direction.

The pair have been friends for four years after meeting each other during auditions for 2008's X Factor.

Liam did not make the final cut, but famously came back two years later to join pop sensation One Direction.

“He's done amazingly well for himself,” Eoghan told Now Magazine. “It's great to see someone from The X Factor doing that.”

Eoghan was only 16 when he came third in the singing competition. But the chubby-cheeked little boy has grown into quite the hottie – he was recently seen sporting a six pack for a Strictly Come Dancing Children in Need special in Northern Ireland.

The 20 year old has no regrets about his time on The X Factor - “I had the best time of my life.”

It's nice to see the boys so chummy!
