Newsreader Jon Snow claims he 'doesn't remember' if he chanted 'f*ck the Tories' at Glastonbury

One celebrity who surprisingly found himself at the centre of controversy at Glastonbury Festival this year is 69-year-old Channel 4 newsreader Jon Snow, who stood accused of chanting ‘f*ck the Tories’ by a fan on Twitter.

The veteran anchor was slammed by Conservative politicians when news of his chant broke, with MP Andrew Bridgen saying: “I think it’s time Channel 4 told Jon Snow where to go”, and ex-Tory minister Rob Wilson adding that Snow has “no credibility now for impartiality”.

Snow has now responded to the allegations, which started when fan Daniel Milea tweeted a photo of the newsreader posing with his friends, writing: “Having a dance with Jon Snow and hearing him shout f*ck the tories is what dream are made of.

“Boss when he turned around just after he got off and sarcastically went ‘I’m supposed to be neutral’.”

Speaking in a statement, Snow refused to deny that he had publicly slammed the Tory party, instead saying: “After a day at Glastonbury I can honestly say I have no recollection of what was chanted, sung or who I took over 1000 selfies with.”

In short, Jon Snow knows nothing.

The star previously tweeted about the “energy for better politics” at Glastonbury, writing to his 1.24million followers: “First trip to Glastonbury: dusty selfies; great music; loads of longing for a decent politics.

“Amazing to be amongst 200,000 at Glastonbury amid a real energy for a better politics.”

And Glastonbury definitely had huge political undertones this year, with Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn drawing a massive crowd on Saturday when he appeared on the Pyramid Stage before Run The Jewels’ performance.

According to festival veterans, Corbyn drew the biggest audience at the festival since the Rolling Stones in 2013, with the politician getting a “rockstar’s reception” as he gave a rousing speech, thanking young people for voting in this month’s General Election.
