Last week's military coup in Guinea saw President Alpha Condé arrested and detained. Colonel Mamady Doumbouya emerged as the face of the new military leaders. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres slammed the taking of power at gunpoint. Neighbouring states followed his lead, adding their condemnation. Then followed the West African economic group ECOWAS and the African Union.
