Next Tottenham manager: Daniel Levy facing brutal double rejection with coach ‘only interested’ in one club
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is at serious risk of being rejected by two managerial options, with one concerned about the quality of the project and another keen to stay at his current side.
Levy has been looking for Antonio Conte’s replacement ever since sacking the 53-year-old on Sunday evening. Conte’s role at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium had become unjustifiable after his incredible outburst in which he slammed both the players and the board of directors.
Surprisingly, Conte’s assistant Cristian Stellini has remained at the club and will work as their interim manager until the end of the season. In the mean time, Levy is searching for a top-class coach to take the club forward into a successful new era.
Mauricio Pochettino has generally been seen as Levy’s top target. He still lives in England from his first spell at Spurs and also has a good relationship with Levy.
But Julian Nagelsmann soon emerged as a prime candidate for the job after being released by Bayern Munich.
However, according to a recent report from Football Insider, Nagelsmann is not convinced by Spurs. He is worried that joining them might ‘damage his career’, preventing him from getting other top roles in the future.

The German wants to continue competing for major honours after guiding Bayern to last season’s Bundesliga title. This is unlikely to happen if he moves to Spurs, as the north London outfit are some way off Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United in terms of performances right now.
And Nagelsmann is not the only highly rated manager who is ready to reject Spurs. Italian newspaper Il Mattino have reported that Luciano Spalletti is on Levy’s shortlist of potential coaches to appoint.
Luciano Spalletti unlikely to join Tottenham
He is doing a brilliant job at Napoli, with the Serie A side establishing a huge lead at the top of the table. They are also through to the Champions League quarter-finals, where they will come up against AC Milan.
Clearly Spalletti has impressed senior Spurs officials. Another reason the Premier League outfit could move for him is that his contract in Naples expires in June.
But Spalletti says he is ‘only interested in Napoli’, with Spurs set to lose out. “The president has the option on the contract, but I’m only interested in Napoli and Napoli’s results,” he said during a recent interview (via Goal).
“When I said that talking about contracts serves to create confusion for me, that’s the way it is.”
Spurs can offer any manager an exciting opportunity. They have an amazing stadium and world-class players such as Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.
But there are some major concerns which are putting the big names off. One will be uncertainty surrounding Kane’s future, as he is a transfer target for Manchester United.
Another factor to consider is that serial winners Jose Mourinho and Conte have been unable to end Spurs’ trophy drought. This means the job could be seen as being a poisoned chalice, as not even Mourinho or Conte have managed to achieve what they set out to do.
Spurs fans will be desperate to see which manager ends up arriving at the club, but there look set to be a few more twists and turns before Levy brings someone in.
Meanwhile, a sensational report has revealed which world-renowned striker is being internally discussed at Spurs.
