Neymar sent off as PSG draw 2-2 in feisty affair with rivals Marseille

Neymar was sent off for the first time in his Paris Saint-Germain career as the Ligue 1 leaders came from behind to draw 2-2 with fierce rivals Marseille on Sunday.

Neymar, who became the world's most expensive signing when he joined PSG from Barcelona for a £198m fee this summer, was booked late at the Stade Velodrome before being shown a second yellow card two minutes later for shoving Lucas Ocampos, who was guilty of fouling him moments earlier.

The 87th-minute sending off is Neymar's first dismissal since joining PSG.

But despite the Brazilian exiting the field with PSG losing Le Classique 2-1, Edinson Cavani's added-time free kick secured a point for the visitors, who now lead the Ligue 1 standings by four points.

After the game, Neymar admitted he had made a mistake by reacting to Ocampos' foul but bemoaned the Marseille fans' behaviour each time he took a corner.

The 25-year-old told L'Equipe: "The supporters threw a lot of things at me, even baguettes. It was too much, that's not football.

"I didn't lose my cool. I accept my mistake. Marseille were good, but we were below-par.

"We can play much better. The pitch was dry and long. We need to get used to it: our opponents will try everything against us."
