The National Football League has denied banning Lady Gaga from talking about politics during her Super Bowl halftime performance.

Slamming reports that the pop star had been told not to mention Donald Trump, a spokesperson insisted that the speculation is ‘nonsense’.

“This is unsourced nonsense from people trying to stir up controversy where there is none,” Natalie Ravitz said in a statement.

“Lady Gaga is focused on putting together an amazing show for fans and we love working with her on it; we aren’t going to be distracted by this.”

Reports that emerged earlier this week suggested that the pop star had been told by the NFL not to make any comments about the President-elect.

“Lady Gaga was told by the N.F.L. that she cannot say anything or bring anything up about the election, or mention Donald Trump,” a source told Entertainment Tonight.

Gaga was a vocal Hillary Clinton in the lead up to the Presidential elections and performed at a number of her campaign rallies.

The 30-year-old singer made her feelings about Trump known in the aftermath of his win as she protested on a giant fire truck outside Trump Towers.
