Dec 19 (The Sports Xchange) - Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Olli Maatta tested positive for mumps on Friday. General manager Jim Rutherford said Maatta remains in isolation. Maatta, 20, has not played since Dec. 6 because of an upper-body injury. He missed time after having a cancerous tumor removed from his thyroid gland. The Penguins also announced goaltender Thomas Greiss and defenseman Robert Bortuzzo tested negative for mumps. Pittsburgh had center Sidney Crosby back in the lineup Thursday after he had missed the previous three games with mumps. In addition, Pittsburgh reassigned goaltender Jeff Zatkoff to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League. - - - Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Steve Mason needed to be helped from the ice with an apparent injury during practice Friday. No terms were released, but the New York Post reported the deal is a one-year, $1.45 million extension through the 2015-16 season. Talbot, 27, is in the final season of his current contract. Talbot has appeared in seven games this season, with a 2-3-1 record, a 2.34 goals-against average, a .921 save percentage and two shutouts. - - - Los Angeles Kings defenseman Robyn Regehr was placed on injured reserve and is expected to be out two to three weeks. Stalberg, 28, has missed the past six weeks of action due to a knee injury sustained on Nov. 7 during a conditioning assignment with Milwaukee. - - - The Edmonton Oilers recalled center Anton Lander from Oklahoma City and assigned defenseman Brandon Davidson to the AHL team. Lander, 23, has eight goals and 19 assists in 26 games with the Barons this season. In 94 career NHL games with the Oilers, he has two goals and six assists. - - - The Toronto Maple Leafs assigned forward Carter Ashton to the Toronto Marlies for conditioning purposes. Ashton, 23, has been held pointless in three games with the Maple Leafs this season. - - - Washington Capitals center Andre Burakovsky was re-assigned to the Hershey Bears of the AHL.
