Nov 28 (The Sports Xchange) - The Anaheim Ducks made a trade in an attempt to bolster their defense, acquiring veteran Eric Brewer from the Tampa Bay Lightning for a third-round choice in the 2015 draft. The Ducks have been hit hard by injuries on the blue line. The team also announced that defenseman Francois Beauchemin will be out four to six weeks with a broken finger on his right hand. He was injured Tuesday in a 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames. The Ducks recalled defenseman Jesse Blacker from Norfolk of the American Hockey League. Anaheim also is without defense Clayton Stoner, who missed his third consecutive game on Friday with the mumps. Brewer, who has 16 years of NHL experience, had four points in 17 games for the Lightning this season. - - The Toronto Maple Leafs loaned forward Brandon Kozun to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League for conditioning purposes. Kozun, 24, has skated in five games with the Maple Leafs this season, collecting one assist. He suffered a high ankle sprain in a game against the Detroit Red Wings on Oct. 17. - - The Dallas Stars recalled left winger Curtis McKenzie from the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League. McKenzie, 23, has appeared in nine games for Dallas this season, scoring his first NHL goal on Nov. 16 against the Chicago Blackhawks. He played in his first NHL game on Oct. 18 against the Philadelphia Flyers. - - The Arizona Coyotes recalled forward Brendan Shinnimin from Portland of the American Hockey League.
