Temptation is a common hurdle for those trying to lose weight, especially if they have a sweet tooth. Yet, not all sweet treats go against your fitness goals.

NHS GP Dr Ahmed, known as @Dra_says on TikTok, has hailed one particular snack as "the greatest" in a recent video. He claimed it might be perfect for people who crave sugar but are working on shedding pounds.

He reported his discovery of quark - a substance that's feel like yoghurt but is technically fresh cheese. He recommended the food after a patient of his mentioned it during a recent check-up.

After their conversation, Dr Ahmed had a look at the product in a local supermarket and was in awe of its nutritional value. He said: "I saw the macros and I was amazed. It's got 80 calories in it, 15g of protein and 4g of sugar."

Delighted by its taste and satiating qualities, he added: "It's very thick and creamy, makes me very full and tastes delicious. It almost tastes like a dessert."

Quark is known for its ability to keep hunger at bay. This is down to its high protein content, which reduces the body's production of a hormone called ghrelin. It also increases leptin levels, which communicate fullness to the brain.

Besides being a tasty snack that can help curb snacking urges, quark is also a low calorie option. It is rich in calcium too, which helps maintain strong teeth and bones, according to the Express.

Some people have reported a noticeable improvement in their digestive system after replacing yoghurts with quark, thanks to the high levels of live bacteria that reach the gut. Aldi offers plain quark for a mere 65p, though larger brands may charge more when flavours are added.

This adaptable delight can be savoured in various ways. Some TikTok users have shared their recipes using quark as a substitute in pancake and pizza base recipes. Others demonstrate that it can be enjoyed on its own. To make this into a tasty 'dessert', simply add with your favourite fruits like strawberries, bananas and blueberries.

Some add different flavourings of their own to the yoghurt to alter the final taste. Some popular add-ins include chocolate or fruit-flavoured drops. While quark can help you feel fuller for longer, potentially helping you lose weight, it is not a miracle cure.
