Nick Fury and iconic aliens feature in Captain Marvel
Captain Marvel will bring in an MCU original to help win the war against one of comics' most notorious alien races.
To establish a strong link between the MCU's past and its future, Captain Marvel will feature the return of Samuel L. Jackson as the one-time SHIELD head honcho Nick Fury - but not present day Nick. The film is set in the 1990s, before the rise of the Avengers.
If there's one person who can help Captain Marvel (aka Carol Danvers) learn to harness her incredible powers, it's the man who founded the Avengers Initiative nearly a decade ago. Just don't expect to see the eyepatch.
"Nick Fury will have two eyes in this," Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige teased during Saturday's Comic-Con panel.
Captain Marvel may need that helping hand from Fury because they are tasked with fending off an invasion of The Skrulls, a shape-shifting alien race bent on secretly taking control of planet earth.

Following a heavily-rumoured cameo in Avengers: Infinity War, it will be It's Kind of a Funny Story and Mississippi Grind directing duo Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck exploring the origin of one Marvel's enduring female heroes.
Of Marvel and her own vision for the film, Larson has previously said: "Aside from the fact that it's iconic to be part of this, to be playing the first female [lead] in a solo [Marvel] movie, I think for me personally one of the things I'm excited about is the idea of female complexity.
"That's what I've wanted to bring to every genre and every film that I've done. How can we come to understand the mystique of being female?"
Carol Danvers is herself a living, breathing amalgamation of both the earth-bound and cosmic heroes who have come to define the MCU over its first ten years, since her human DNA has been spiced with the Skrulls' rival alien species the Kree.
Captain Marvel will reach UK and US cinemas on March 8, 2019.
