Nick Knowles seemed like one of the most chilled out campmates on this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, but it turns out that he was suffering with a nasty injury the entire time.

The DIY SOS host was speaking on spin-off show I'm a Celebrity: Extra Camp last night (December 7) when he revealed he'd been experiencing the pain in his shoulder.

He said: "Seven days before I came in here I actually did a lot of damage to my neck and shoulder. The programme was great – I went to Harley Street, I had a big MRI and they discovered I have compressed two vertebrae in my neck and I had ripped two tendons in my shoulder.

"Bob, the camp doctor, has been looking after me. I had cortisone injections in it before I went in there, and whilst I was in there, everyday I was talking to Bob and he was saying the only thing you can really do is attack it, so that is why I did all the exercise.

"The other reason why I'd go sit in the pool as well was because it was freezing," he added. "They said I could take an ice pack in there with me but I didn't want anyone at home to know I had an injury.

"The thing at the end was, in the last two days, I just wasn't handling it."

Later in the show, Nick also added that "doing things" around the camp kept his mind off his shoulder injury.

"I don't want anyone to get the idea I looked after everybody," he continued. "Everybody looked after me."

Hollyoaks star Malique Thompson-Dwyer also revealed he suffered an injury in camp, with the show later saying that it was "a superficial burn".

"He was advised and treated by our medical team in camp and after leaving the jungle. The diagnosis of a superficial burn was also confirmed by an independent doctor," an ITV spokesperson added.

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! continues at 9:10pm tonight (December 8) on ITV, while I'm A Celeb: Extra Camp continues afterwards on ITV2.
