The footage shows the 33-year-old rapper laughing and calling after a woman on the streets of Miami as she tells her to “go away” and that she “doesn’t need her help.”

There’s no indication of what happened immediately before the footage was shot, but many people commenting on the clip have claimed that the woman is well known in Miami’s South Beach area and is mentally ill.

The Instagram post has racked up more than 10,000 comments so far, with many people slamming Minaj’s “inexcusable” behaviour.

“How is this even funny?” one follower said. “Like why target someone whom isn’t even on your status? Yeah, Nicki you def [sic] lost points and respect for this one…this isn’t right.”

“She had enough money to get that women [sic] help…but she chose instead to humiliate them online,” added another.

Another poster added, “What is wrong with you dumb a– celebrities talking people down and being disrespectful to people. Oh just because you’re famous that gives you a right to humiliate someone, um I think not. Grow up.”

The Miami division of The National Alliance on Mental Illness also took Minaj to task, releasing a statement stating that: “Nobody would make fun of a cancer patient, and mental illness is an illness like any other.”
