A tweet posted by US President Donald Trump to mock Democratic rival Joe Biden has revived a viral meme of band Nickelback.

Posted on 2 October, the tweet featured a popular meme, which involves internet users superimposing unrelated images into a clip from Nickelback’s 2005 video for ‘Photograph’, where singer Chad Kroeger holds up an empty frame.

Trump supporters unearthed a photograph of former Vice President Biden playing a round of golf with Ukranian businessman Devon Archer and son Hunter Biden, which was then edited into the video.

It was uploaded by Trump, accompanied by the caption “LOOK AT THIS PHOTOGRAPH!”

However, hours later, the contents of the video were deleted after a copyright claim on behalf of Nickelback.

It’s not yet apparent who made copyright report, although Warner Media Group owns the rights to Nickelback’s back catalogue.

The video had been created by Trump supporters to highlight the unsubstantiated claims by the president and his personal lawyer that Biden improperly assisted his son’s business ventures in Ukraine and China.

The post has been one in a series of attacks against Biden and his son over the last few weeks with the US president's team accused of waging a campaign of “lies, smears, distortions and name calling” geared at knocking the democrat out of the 2020 Democratic presidential race.

On Wednesday, Biden responded to Trump's accusations, stating that he would not let the president “hijack” his campaign by allowing the president’s narrative to take root.

The US president's actions have since led to an impeachment inquiry being launched against him. The inquiry was initially sparked in response to a whistleblower complaint regarding a phone call between Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky and Trump.

The phone call supposedly revealed that Trump asked Zelensky to investigate his 2020 presidential rival Joe Biden and his son Hunter, based on unfounded corruption allegations.

A CBS News Poll found that 55 per cent of Americans agree with the decision to begin the impeachment process against Trump - a further 70 per cent also believed his actions were improper or illegal.
