Former Pussycat Dolls singer and Dancing with the Stars winner Nicole Scherzinger has hit back over claims she told Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly ‘Your hair is touching me.’

Strictly fans took to Twitter on Saturday night to try and figure out what Scherzinger said to Daly in what appeared to be a brief yet hostile exchange.

Speaking to The Sun, professional lip reader Tina Lannin claims Scherzinger said ‘Your hair is touching me’ and that she appeared ‘unhappy’ and felt her personal space was ‘invaded.’

“There is absolutely no mirroring between Nicole and Tess here, suggesting a lack of empathy or rapport,” Lannin added.

But Scherzinger says this is not the case and slammed the reports on her official Twitter account.

The 40-year-old claims she was simply responding to Daly complimenting her dress and that she ‘can sit as close to me as she likes.’

She also said she there to support fellow former Pussycat Dolls member Ashley Roberts and said viewers should ‘focus’ on how Roberts ‘killed it last night!’ rather than what she muttered to Daly.

And this wasn’t the only thing about Scherzinger’s appearance that set Strictly fans tongues wagging. As many were surprised to see her on the show at all, as she used to judge X Factor which is of course Strictly’s biggest ratings competitor.

Strictly Come Dancing has repeatedly trounced X Factor in their ratings war this year. The latest reports show that the dancing competition beat X Factor by over 5 million viewers.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday at 6.35pm.
