Nigel Farage: 'It’s a blessing I was never elected as an MP... Now I can help save Brexit'

Nigel Farage has said that “it’s a blessing I was never elected as an MP” despite his return to frontline politics. The former Ukip leader announced his comeback in the Telegraph last week and today answers readers' questions in an exclusive video.

Mr Farage plans to take on the Government's Brexit plans over the coming months on behalf of the Leave Means Leave campaign, insisting the “political class in Westminster and their media allies” believe Brexiteers are “stupid”, and calling for them to be “taught a lesson”.

The Telegraph has collected numerous questions from our highly active comment section and from across Twitter asking Mr Farage about everything from his return to politics, the future of Brexit and his opinion on Britain’s current leadership.

Mr Farage says that Theresa May is the “worst leader” he has seen in his lifetime, and that the UK is being betrayed by a parliament that “doesn’t want to give us what the people of this country voted for”.

In response to a question about whether Brexit would be further advanced if a true Brexiteer was leading the Conservative Party, Mr Farage shares his thoughts on whether a leadership election will take place, and says he “hopes Theresa May is removed”.

He also responded to “tough tweets” sent in by readers.

Dr Rachel Clarke sent in a tweet asking why he was “too scared” to discuss Brexit and the NHS with her. This follows Dr Clarke’s reply to a tweet by Mr Farage last week that went viral, in which he called “project fear” and the British Medical Association (BMA) an “absolute disgrace” in the wake of the BMA's claim that a no-deal Brexit would be a “catastrophe” for the NHS.
