Nigel Farage is about to set the record for the most Question Time appearances this century

Nigel Farage is reportedly set to achieve the joint highest number of Question Time appearances this century when he appears on the BBC show tomorrow night.

The former Ukip leader will make his 32nd appearance on the show as it airs from Blackpool – with the tally only matched by former Chancellor Ken Clarke.

Farage’s latest appearance comes after it was revealed that Ukip appeared on almost one in four of the BBC’s Question Time programmes in the last seven years – despite never having more than two MPs.

The revelation comes from recent analysis which showed that the anti-EU party were represented on 24 percent of the programmes.

‘Now that Ukip have no representation in the House of Commons they should certainly expect less television coverage’, Green Party co-leader Jonathan Bartley said of the high appearance count.

‘For too long now they’ve been given a disproportionate amount of airtime and I fully expect the broadcasters to review the amount of time they give what is essentially an extra-parliamentary pressure group.’

Earlier this month, Labour peer Andrew Adonis also responded to Farage’s high appearance count and called on Ofcom to investigate the ‘Brexit bias’ of the BBC.

‘Anyone tell me how often Farage has been on BBC Question Time in last 2 years & whether anyone has appeared more often? Time for @ofcom to look at Brexit bias of BBC, esp BBC’s constant promotion of Farage, whose party now has 2% support! @bbcquestiontime’, he wrote.

Farage is yet to directly respond.
