Nigel Farage has been trolled on Twitter for his response to Jeremy Corbyn’s speech at Glastonbury Festival.

The former Ukip leader told of his outrage that television viewers should pay the BBC license fee “just so they can promote” the Labour leader.

But Tottenham MP David Lammy responded by slamming Mr Farage for losing seven parliamentary elections but still being allowed to appear on BBC’s Question Time.

The Labour MP said: “I don’t really like paying my license fee to watch a bloke who lost seven parliamentary elections on Question Time but life is unfair isn’t it.”

The spat broke out after Mr Farage retweeted a BBC Radio 1 post that pictured the Labour leader holding a mic on stage.

The image was captioned: “When you ace the chorus.”

Mr Farage responded, posting: "Why should we pay the BBC licence fee just so they can promote @JeremyCorbyn? Outrageous."

It comes after Mr Corbyn made a guest appearance on the Pyramid state at Glastonbury on Saturday.

Addressing crowds from the main stage at the Worthy Farm site, he urged festival-goers to “build bridges not walls” in an apparent dig at Donald Trump.

Mr Farage also posted several pictures of the huge crowds at the popular music event, showing youngsters flying flags that read: “I love Jeremy Corbyn.”

Along with the pictures, the MEP wrote: “Have this lot had a look at what they're actually supporting? Google 'Marxism'.”

Mr Corbyn, who received a hero’s welcome when he arrived on stage, said: “Is it right that so many people in our country have no home to live in and only a street to sleep on?

“Is it right so many people are frightened of where they live at the moment having seen the horrors of Grenfell Tower? Is it right that so many people live in such poverty in a society which has such riches?

“No it obviously isn’t.”

He was also spotted pouring pints for revellers and meeting emergency services staff at the annual event which concludes on Sunday night.
