Nigel Havers clearly still bears the scars from his time on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.

The Coronation Street actor took to the jungle in the 2010 series of the ITV celebrity game show, but failed to gel with one of his other camp-mates.

In fact, he’s revealed that he often had murderous thoughts during his time in Australia.

“If I’d stayed there I would’ve killed somebody… his name was Lembit Opik, something like that,” he said on This Morning.

Former Lib Dem MP Opik was arguably more famous for his relationships with TV weather presenter Sian Lloyd, and latterly, Gabriela Irimia of pop band The Cheeky Girls.

“I was just about to murder him, which would’ve done everyone a favour I know. Great for ratings,” Havers added.

“It was very simple, I was just going to strangle him in the night. I really meant I was going to kill him.”

Havers quit the show, uttering the show’s famous title words, after nine days, when he refused to take part in a task in which participants were given electric shocks.

However, he did make one friend on the show, in the form of Happy Mondays singer Shaun Ryder.

“There was a guy from the Happy Mondays – he was great. I remember him telling me that he’s taken every drug known to man apart from petrol. He was very interesting,” he said.

“But apart from that it was boring.”
