Yahoo News Nikki Reed hits out over pregnancy consent article
The Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder recently admitted that he "threw away" his wife's birth control pills so they could start a family, and it's prompted a rather angry response from the media.
Nikki (who you may recognise from the Twilight franchise) has now hit out at critics for taking the story out of context and for casting a "dark shadow over one of the happiest most memorable days of my life".
In the Twitter post she insisted she wasn't "forced into pregnancy" and slammed Cosmopolitan Magazine for their article about the possible lack of consent.
"My response: Yep. When you actually listen to the podcast (which I'm sure you didn't) you'll hear how 'unforced' I felt," she wrote.
"Ha! Also, 'unconsented' bullshit is you speaking on my behalf in a story admittedly taken out of context for the purpose of stirring up drama WITHOUT my approval.
"Don't talk about consent to me. And lastly, how dare you try to cast a dark shadow over one of the happiest most memorable days of my life – you're not only disrespecting me but my baby."

It seems like the whole thing was taken out of context, as Nikki also slammed the article for not "properly conveying" her feelings.
In the podcast that sparked the outcry, Ian talked about the moment he took his wife's birth control without her knowledge following a discussion about starting a family.
"We decided that we wanted to have children together, and it was just time. But unbeknownst to poor Nikki, she didn't realise that I was going to go in her purse and take out her birth control," he said, revealing they were on holiday in Spain at the time.
"By the way, it was the beginning of the pack, so I had to pop all those suckers out. It is a lot of work, especially after a little bit of sangria."
The couple welcomed their baby girl, Bodhi Soleil Reed Somerhalder, back in July.
