The Golden Globes have released their list of nominations for movies and television, and people have noticed a trend. That trend being: where are all the women?

After the lack of female representation was heavily criticised around, and during, last year's ceremony, you'd think that the people behind the nominations would have given some of the talented women out there a thought, but it seems not.

Not a single woman has been nominated for the Best Director category, despite people like Josie Rourke (Mary Queen of Scots), Tamara Jenkins (Private Life) and Karyn Kusama (Destroyer) being heavily tipped for a nod.

Furthermore, none of the films nominated for Best Drama or Best Comedy had a female director, none of the men nominated for a Best Actor – Drama award were directed by a woman, none of the women in the Best Supporting Actress category were directed by women AND no man or woman nominated for a Best Actor/Actress – Musical or Comedy were (you guessed it) directed by a woman.

Furthermore, no women were nominated for Best Score, one woman was nominated for Best Screenplay and there are only two women nominated across the Best Actress – Musical or Comedy and Best Supporting Actress categories. Not one woman of colour was nominated for a Best Actress – Drama award.
