No foul play suspected in teen's death

Jan. 22—SHARON — Although Mercer County Coroner John A. Libonati is waiting for final autopsy results in a Youngstown teen's death Sunday, he said there is no indication of foul play.

"I do not believe at this time that there was foul play," Libonati said.

Sharon police identified the 16-year-old as Zachariah Croom.

He was found at 1:20 p.m. in an outside stairwell of an apartment building in the 100 block of North Irvine Avenue in Sharon, just south of West Hill Elementary School.

Mike Renner, deputy coroner, pronounced the boy dead at the scene.

Libonati said his office has not yet determined a cause of death.

An autopsy is scheduled for noon Tuesday with Dr. Eric Vey, a forensic pathologist in the Erie County coroner's office.

Sharon police are investigating the scene and circumstances surrounding the boy's death, with assistance from the coroner's and district attorney's offices.
