No Offence is yet to be commissioned for a fourth series, though creator Paul Abbott already has plans if it does get the green light.

The Channel 4 show finished its third run last night (October 18) with a gripping and emotional finale, and its boss is hoping figures will be good enough to get another run, naturally.

"We haven't had the nod yet, and normally they [the commissioners] wait for the figures to come back," he told RadioTimes.com. "Normally it's about episode four we start to get the measure of whether we're going to get another one.

"We're already planning another one, just being pre-emptive, because by the time they deign to give you the go-ahead there's very little time left to start putting the show together."

Last month, one of the show's directors opened up about the death of DJ Joy Freers at the start of the series.

"I've never seen anyone die like that on television – it was [series creator] Paul [Abbott]'s idea that the ambulance turns the lights out," Catherine Morshead said.

She added: "This is a show that eats story... the narrative is so busy. We run it at a real pace."

No Offence airs on Channel 4. The third series is also available to watch in full as a boxset via Sky and NOW TV.
