A longstanding staple of Southport's food and drink scene has announced it will close within the next two months. Andy's Snack Bar, located on Garrick Parade, served locals homemade pies, cakes and café favourites since its establishment in 1961.

Andy's Snack Bar is popular for its all day breakfasts and baked goods made to order. A recent post on Facebook informed customers of the upcoming closure and suggested they should "make the most of the time" they had left.

The statement said: "Breaking news... Andy's Snack Bar will close its doors for the final time within two months." The closing date has since been confirmed as Saturday, March 15.

Customers issued their best wishes to Andy's' Snack Bar with many upset about the closure. Facebook user Chloe White said: "No words. You will be missed more than you will ever know. We wish you all the best!"

Dawn Horn said: "We as a family are devastated with this news. Been coming to you all for years including the Mum's and Dad's and friends. Always a warm and friendly welcome, great food and very prompt service. Andy's Snack Bar will always be a very fond memory in our lives and we will be down this week to see you."

Kim Wignall said: "I am so sad to read this, so sorry you are closing your doors. Spent so many happy times in here with my son. Good luck in your future. And thank you xx."

A follow up statement from the venue read: "Thanks to everyone for the lovely comments about Andy's Snack Bar. Please please please make the most of the time we are still here.

"We are looking forward to welcoming our regulars and all customers for the next couple of months. Stock your freezer with pies and don't forget to order to avoid disappointment. See everyone soon. Call on 07481154522 for orders."

The reason behind the closure is yet to be publicly confirmed by the business. The ECHO has reached out to Andy's Snack Bar for comment.
