Earlier today, Sandi Toksvig announced that she was quitting The Great British Bake Off.

She shared a statement on Twitter, which read:

“When stepping down for a job it is quite common for people to say they are doing so in order to spend more time with their family.

“Unusually, I am departing from the Great British Bake Off so I can spend more time with my other work. As my waistline will testify, Bake Off is an all consuming show. Spending time with Prue, Paul and Noel has been one of the great pleasures of my life. These are beyond friendships which I know will continue beyond the confines of television.

“Bake Off is a wonderful programme which has already proved it can happily withstand change of hosting personnel. The reason for that, of course, is that the true stars of the show are the bakers themselves. I wish everyone well.”

And now her co-hist and great pal Noel Fielding has reacted to the news with a sweet Instagram post where he compared them to Tom and Jerry.

He wrote: "Good double acts are a rare and magical beast ! I’m gonna miss Sandi comically and personally but i also know we were lucky to have her for 3 amazing years ! wish you all the best in your next adventures x x love Noel x"

I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying.

Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Now we don't want to jump in her grave, but we do have to consider who might be joining Noel for GBBO this year.

Betting site Coral has a few ideas on who they think might be taking residence in the Bake Off tent alongside Noel, and judges, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

Nadiya Hussain - 2/1
Susan Calman – 3/1
Davina McCall - 4/1
Rachel Riley – 6/1
Jo Brand - 6/1
Noel Edmonds - 8//1
Rylan Clarke-Neal - 10/1
Clare Balding - 12/1

We can see why Nadiya is the top choice, seeing as she knows first-hand how stressful it can be in that tent.

Plus, a lot of people on Twitter think Richard Ayoade would be a great fit seeing as Noel and him have worked together on The IT Crowd and The Big Fat Quiz Of The Year in the past.
