Noel Gallagher has confessed he has gained a beer belly after drinking so much in lockdown.

The 53-year-old Oasis musician revealed he would usually have periods of abstinence after partying hard on the road, but during the first year of the coronavirus pandemic he has been hitting the bottle every night at home.

The Don't Look Back In Anger singer told the Funny How? podcast: "I’m getting a bit fat, actually. It’s all the boozing. I’m getting a little beer belly.

“Like everyone, I’ve been drinking every night at home for a year, which is something I never usually do.

“I usually drink every night on the road and then when I get home I abstain for a while and get back in shape. Or you have a night out twice a week, so you don’t drink at home.

“I’m drinking every f***ing week. I’m f***ing loving it but I’ve started to wear baggy clothes, let’s put it that way. I looked at it and thought, ‘That’s a disgrace’."

Gallagher added: "I do go to the gym regularly, so it can’t be that bad.”

The High Flying Birds frontman – who lives with wife of 10 years Sara MacDonald and sons Donovan, 13, and Sonny, 10 – also revealed that his eyesight is beginning to fail him.

He admitted: “My eyes are really f***ing bad now. My eyesight is receding, or whatever the visual term might be. It’s not as sharp as it was.

“I can’t read anything. I think they’ve got to be on a certain level of badness to have laser eye surgery and I’m just on the cusp of it now.”

Throughout lockdown Gallagher's younger brother Liam has been campaigning on social media for Oasis to reunite.

The band split up in 2009 after the brothers fell out during a backstage fight at a festival in Paris. Noel quit and the pair are not thought to have spoken since.

Both brothers have had successful solo careers since going their separate ways. Liam was also the lead singer of Beady Eye with guitarists Gem Archer and Andy Bell and drummer Chris Sharrock, all former members of Oasis.

Noel started a new band, High Flying Birds, and as the writer of many of Oasis’s big hits, earns money for them when Liam performs them live.
