Noel Gallagher teams up with Johnny Marr on new track ‘Pretty Boy’

Noel Gallagher has returned with ‘Pretty Boy’, a new track featuring the efforts of guitar legend Johnny Marr.

It comes after Gallagher previously teased a return last week, with his last album coming in 2017’s Who Built The Moon? While he has since released a number of EPs and a best-of album, the new track marks the first taste of music from his next High Flying Birds album – which arrives next year.

Gallagher said of the track: “For this new record it was the first thing I wrote, the first thing I demoed and the first thing I finished, so it’s only right that it’s the first thing people get to hear.

“Massive shout out to my mainest man Johnny Marr for taking it somewhere special. Oh … and watch out for a cameo from me in the video … first one to spot me wins a bag of Flamin’ Hot Wotsits Giants!!”

Opening up on what to expect from the album, he previously explained: “There is a track on the album called ‘Dead To The World’, which is one of the best songs I have ever written.”

Earlier this year, Gallagher also opened up on why he believes rock music has become the exclusive preserve of the middle class.

In a new interview with the Mirror, the former Oasis man doubted whether teenagers would have the means to start a band in the current climate.

“Where are the 14-year-olds in bands now?” asked Gallagher. “Working class kids can’t afford to do it now, because guitars are expensive, there’s no rehearsal rooms. They’ve all been turned into wine bars and flats. Four or five guys from a council estate can’t afford guitars.”
