Who is nominated for the Fashion Awards 2024? John Galliano, JW Anderson and Miuccia Prada up for top prize
The countdown to London’s most stylish night is on as nominees for 2024's Fashion Awards are officially announced.
The event — once known as the British Fashion Awards — will pack out the Royal Albert Hall on December 2 to celebrate the industry’s talent across a number of sought-after categories; these range from the prestigious Designer of the Year Award, which goes to a British or international designer who had helped define “the shape of global fashion”, through to this year’s top model, which “recognises the global impact of a model who, over the last 12 months, has dominated the industry.”
There are also awards for the best British Menswear and Womenswear Designer of the Year, the best Accessories Designer, as well as the much anticipated New Establishment awards, which tip off rising stars. These are completed with recognition awards which are pre announced; this year Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou, the Global Editor-in-Chief of 10 Magazine, 10 Men Magazine and 10+ Magazine, will receive a Special Recognition Award for her contribution to the fashion industry, while American photographer Tyler Mitchell has been awarded the Isabella Blow Award for a Fashion Creator.
The other winners will be revealed on the night, which this year is sponsored by Pandora. By way of front runners, however, John Galliano, up for Designer of the Year thanks to his work at Maison Margiela, is in a strong position following his spectacular Spring 2024 couture collection. Jonathan Anderson will likely head home with his hands full, too, after ensuring Loewe, where he is creative director, overtook Miu Miu and Prada to become “the hottest brand in the world”, per shopping app Lyst, this quarter. He is nominated for three top design awards, and won the Designer of the Year Award last year.
As well as those hoping for prizes, the audience will undoubtedly be packed with fashion’s great and good. Last year guests included Kate Moss, Anne Hathaway, Gwyneth Paltrow, Amal Clooney and Pamela Anderson.
