The Nordic Bar and the ice-skating rink will return to Derby city centre this weekend (Saturday November 30) - and the prices have been announced.

The bar will be located in the Market Place this year in a number of tipis that will provide a cosy atmosphere for those looking to refresh themselves after an ice skating session or a day out Christmas shopping.

While Derby City Council had previously announced a location change for the Nordic Bar and ice rink to the Cathedral Green, it has since announced that this has been reversed and both the features will be in their original location of the Market Place.

The official launch of the bar will be taking place on Saturday, November 30, but the soft launch of the bar will be on Thursday, November 28, to allow the people of Derby to take a sneak peek inside.

Throughout the festive season there is going to be a whole host of different musicians, bands and performances for visitors to come and see at the bar.

Councillor Nadine Peatfield, leader of Derby City Council, said: "The Cathedral Quarter Ice Rink has become a well-loved fixture of Christmas in Derby and it’ll be exciting to see it return in this stunning new location. This year’s Festive Derby is shaping up to be another one to remember and we can’t wait to welcome everyone into the city centre to enjoy it."

The full programme includes Emzae, a local artist kicking off on the first day of the bars opening, AVP theatre throughout the whole of the festive period, Cassette Roulette and many more throughout the month. Full details of the extensive line-up can be found here.

Prices for the bar have been released and deals are still in the works according to the Sami Tipi Team who have set up the Nordic Bar. Pints of beer average at around £6, ciders are around £5.50, cocktails are priced at £9, and sprits with mixer coming in at £7 for a single or £9 for a double.

The team behind the Nordic Bar have also promised a selection of deals across the festive period including a special after-work deal from 4.30pm until 6.30pm, Monday to Thursday, with more details to come.

As well as alcoholic drinks there will also be a selection of 0% drinks. These include soft drinks (£2.75), mocktails (£4.50) and hot drinks that vary in price from tea and coffee for £2 to hot chocolate with all the toppings (£5).

Thomas Colombo, founder of Mambo Mobile Bars, which provides the bar, said: "Last year? Fantastic! But this year, we're going to top that! Partnering again with Sami Tipi means we’re crafting another phenomenal bar experience — think bigger, bolder, and brimming with Nordic charm. We’re gearing up to make this season’s experience even more spectacular. Derby, prepare to be dazzled!"

Opening times for the bar are also varied across the festive seasons with details on the website, however mostly the bar will be open on weekdays from 4.30pm to 9.30pm and at weekends while this varies the open times usually range from 9.30am to 10.30pm. Full details of the opening hours can be found here.

The team also hinted at special deals for children who have just finished ice skating at the Market Place ice rink, such as a mini hot chocolate for children when an adult buys a drink at the bar.

Prices for the ice skating at the market place have also been released, with standard tickets being priced at either £9 or £11, with under-fives being allowed to ice skate for free for the first weekend. The prices do however change after the first weekend with the standard ticket at £11 and under-16s at £8.50.
