'The New Normal': Police Checks Set Up at New South Wales Border as Victoria Locked Down

Police were seen setting up a checkpoint at the New South Wales-Victoria border in Albury on July 7, as the border was closed at midnight due to a coronavirus outbreak in Victoria.

On July 6, New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced the border would be closed after a conversation with the Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

“The new normal,” Instagram user its__just__sandy posted with an Instagram Story showing the police setting up a border checkpoint in Albury, New South Wales, near the bridge over the Murray River which marks the border of the two states.

Australian Defence Force personnel would be used to ringfence the Melbourne metropolitan area, which was placed under lockdown on July 8.
