Yahoo News North Korea carries out short-range ballistic missile tests
North Korea has fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the sea, according to South Korea's military, in the fifth round of tests in less than three weeks.
The launches, which are believed to be in protest at the pace of nuclear negotiations with the US, came just hours after Donald Trump said he had received a ‘beautiful’ three-page letter from Kim Jong Un.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said the missiles, which appeared to be short-range ballistic missiles, were fired from the North's eastern coast and flew about 250 miles on an apogee of 30 miles, before landing in waters between the Korean Peninsula and Japan.
North Korea has carried out a series of tests of short-range weapons over the past few weeks, partly in response to joint US-South Korea military exercises.
But Mr Trump has said he is not concerned by the flurry of tests.

The launches came as the US president said he had received a “very positive” letter from his North Korean counterpart.
He told reporters: "I think we'll have another meeting. He really wrote a beautiful, three-page - I mean great from top to bottom - a really beautiful letter."
The two leaders held an impromptu meeting in June at the demilitarised zone (DMZ) between North and South Korea, a year on from their summit in Singapore.
