North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un and President Moon Jae-in Shake Hands at Historic Summit

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un crossed the demilitarized zone (DMZ) line into South Korea for historic talks with South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Friday, April 27.

These videos of the event were shared by the South Korean executive office, Korea Blue House. The inter-Korean summit was the third of its kind since the 1950-53 Korean War, Yohap News Agency reported. The last summit was held in 2007, the report said.

In what has been described by Yonhap as a sign of “thawing” tensions between the two states, Kim reportedly told Moon he was committed to establishing an agreement between them that would not collapse.

“I wish for it to be a chance for us to walk forward hand-in-hand while looking toward the future with a determination, instead of (summit) outcomes like those in the past that could not be implemented,” he reportedly said. Credit: Korea Blue House via Storyful
