North Shields restaurant boasts Hollywood megastar customer who stunned diners
It's not every day you get a Hollywood megastar wandering into your restaurant, but that's exactly what happened to a popular venue in North Shields a few years ago, with an encounter that shocked other diners and still gets talked about today.
Already very popular before their A-list customer decided to pay a visit, The Ship's Cat is always one of the busiest places to go by the FIsh Quay, but in 2021, there was a huge shock for both locals and staff, when none other than Harrison Ford called in, as the much loved actor took a break from filming the latest Indiana Jones film up in Northumberland.
As reported by ChronicleLive back in June 2021, kitted out in cycling gear, Harrison chatted to customers and posed for selfies as he waited for his order, which sources confirmed was the £17.95 sea bass, along with an £11.50 bowl of mussels. And The Ship's Cat, also a favourite with Geordie music icon Sam Fender, insisted their A-list guest was treated like "a normal customer" during his visit to the popular Fish Quay venue.

Posting a photo of Star Wars and The Fugitive actor Harrison chatting to customers on their social media pages, The Ship's Cat wrote: "Imagine sitting here enjoying your coffee then you look over and it's.... Indiana Jones! What an honour to have Harrison Ford join us today on the decking here at the Ship's Cat! You are welcome back anytime. What a legend!"
During his time in the region filming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Harrison also attracted plenty of interest on the Quayside in Newcastle, with him being spotted by fans as he headed for food at both Aveika and Khai Khai.
