North Staffordshire curry house shut as building repossessed

One of North Staffordshire's newest Indian restaurants has shut with immediate effect. Turmeric Indian Restaurant and Dessert Bar opened on Biddulph High Street in October after taking on the former Swan Inn pub.

Owner Abdul Khayer ploughed £60,000 into converting the former pub. But the curry house had only been open for a few months when a notice appeared in the window stating the venue was closed due to a holiday.

Now the building has been repossessed.

A notice in the window states: "These premises have been repossessed by the owner Akhi Investments and any attempt to re-enter will be treated as a criminal offence and reported to the police. We will not accept liability for any actual or consequential loss."
