North Yorkshire Town at 'Standstill' After Heavy Snow Hits the Region

Most of England was placed under a yellow weather warning on Friday, January 8, as heavy snow was expected to disrupt travel, according to the Met Office.

Footage shared by Twitter user @seaudebulles shows cars parked across empty, snow-covered streets in the North Yorkshire town of Harrogate. “I think it’s best if I leave the car and walk from here,” he wrote in a caption.

Local media reported the town at a “standstill” as schools and businesses closed for the day.
