Northern Ireland weekend weather outlook ahead of winter clock change
After an eventful weekend on the weather front last week with Storm Ashley sweeping in, things will be much quieter over the coming days.
Last weekend, the Met Office issued amber and yellow weather warnings as the first named storm of the season hit parts of the UK. Flights and trains were cancelled and thousands were left without power, reminding us of the disruption that can be caused by severe weather.
With the clocks going back this weekend, new Met Office research also reveals that almost half of people in the UK have been caught out unexpectedly by severe weather over the past year.

The biggest cause of disruption was revealed to be heavy rain stopping people getting to work on time or going out, with more than a third (36%) of those surveyed affected. Issues with public transport, slipping on ice and power cuts have also impacted almost one in five people.
With half-term and Halloween on the horizon, there's lots happening so you'll want to know the latest outlook if you're heading out and about.
Here's what to expect for the coming days in Northern Ireland:
Today:
The day will be cloudy with rain at times, with some heavier outbreaks during the morning, becoming lighter and patchier through the afternoon. Staying mostly cloudy with hill fog but some brightness to the west of hills. Moderate easterly breeze. Maximum temperature 15°C.

Saturday:
A bright start with some sunny intervals, southerly winds freshening up. Clouding over with rain spreading from west, some heavy, clearing towards evening Maximum temperature 12°C.
Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

UK long range weather forecast: Tuesday 29th October - Thursday 7th November
High pressure will dominate through much of next week, bringing widely settled conditions but probably with a fair amount of low cloud, producing spots of rain or drizzle at times. There will also be an increased chance of frost and fog, which may be slow to clear in places.
The far north/northwest may experience breezier conditions and some outbreaks of rain at times, and there may be a tendency for this to push a little farther south later in the week, potentially allowing some colder air to filter into parts of Scotland with perhaps some snow over high ground.
Otherwise, high pressure will tend to dominate for much of the rest of this period across more southern, and perhaps central, areas, with a continuation of drier than average conditions likely.
