Northern Lights Swirl Over Oulu, Finland

Residents of Finland reported seeing a spectacular northern lights show over parts of the country on the night of September 27 to 28.

This time-lapse footage was shared by Petri Puurunen, who said it was filmed in Koitelinkoski, an area along the Kiiminkijoki river in the Kiiminki district in Oulu in central Finland. In northern Finland, the lights are visible “about every other clear night between September and March,” while they can be seen around 10 to 20 nights per year in southern Finland, according to visitfinaland.com.
