Northern Territory's New Cheeky Tourism Campaign Roasts Neighbours

A Tourism NT campaign that launched on Friday, July 21 took a cheeky swipe at the metropolitan capitals of Australia in a bid to drive up visitor numbers to the outback.

The new ads – featuring Australian comedians Alex Williamson, Tanya Hennessy, and Harley Breen – sledge the idiosyncrasies of the territory’s neighbours. The respective comedians are shown poking fun of their own state capital’s problems whether it’s the horrible congestion in Sydney, the pretentious hipster attitudes in Melbourne, or the cold weather and lack of nightlife in Adelaide.

The ABC reported the $666,000 campaign followed a recent study showing dip in visitors to the territory. Credit: Tourism NT via Storyful
