Northumberland's Red Row Vintage Rally makes Bank Holiday return for first time in five years
A vintage rally which boasted a proud 30-year history before falling victim to the pandemic is finally back on track with plans for a major comeback this Bank Holiday weekend.
The Red Row Vintage Rally will be back - in style - this Sunday at Druridge Bay Country Park in Northumberland and no doubt will receive a warm welcome from the community who have missed it since it fell victim to the pandemic. The event was first cancelled because of Covid in 2020 and, following lockdown year, ongoing restrictions prevented it running in 2021 too - and it hasn't taken place since.
But now the rally, run for three decades by Red Row Vintage Club, will be making its eagerly-awaited return this Sunday, August 25 and it will be going all-out to impress with an array of vehicles including steam engines; vintage tractors, military vehicles and classic cars, motorbikes and cycles. Local blacksmith Stephen Lunn is among the small dedicated group busy with organising the revival of the rally which also will include automobile and charity stalls plus children’s amusements and a silent auction of vintage transport magazines with proceeds going to charity.

The rally will open at 10am, with its lakeside location also providing access to both the park facilities and Druridge beach for those wanting to extend their day, and it will run until 4pm. It promises to be a spectacular sight with more than 100 classic cars and commercial vehicles alone while other attractions will include model exhibits, a variety of crafts, hobby and food stalls.
The event is free entry while there will be collections for local charities Great North Air Ambulance; Northumbria Blood Bikes; Rotary International; Blyth Battery Volunteers Ltd and St. John Ambulance. The auction will be in aid of The Multiple Sclerosis Society. For more information about the rally see here.
