Norwich City will be without two key players for their clash with Leeds United this week.

The Canaries, who come into the tie on the back of a 3-2 win over Derby County, have made a positive start to the season under new boss Johannes Hoff Thorup. However, City were dealt a huge blow in the build-up to their win over the Rams, with Onel Hernandez and Liam Gibbs both ruled out until December.

Gibbs was left out of the Canaries' squad for their recent win over Watford and recent scans have revealed a hammer blow. "Not really positive. I think we are talking about a return to play in 10 weeks' time. It was, unfortunately, what we hoped it wouldn't be," Thorup told the Pink Un.

"It's very unfortunate for him and for us. Even though he hasn't been a regular starter, it was the plan [for him to challenge]. He is a good player and has the capability physically to cover a lot of ground. That is how it is and we have to support him in the best way that we can."

Hernandez has suffered a similar blow, having been substituted just seven minutes into a cameo form the bench at Vicarage Road, with a hamstring injury.

"It is the same," Thorup said. "We are talking about 10 weeks' time or something like that. It didn't seem that serious in the game, and we thought we'd go with low risk after seven minutes on the pitch.

"We could see he was running without full power and went with what we thought was low risk, but now it seems it was very important that we took that decision because it's a longer one for him."

Daniel Farke's side travel to Carrow Road looking to maintain their impressive run of form against his former club. The Whites came out on top in the play-off shootout between the two sides last season, before a play-off final defeat to Southampton.
