Not So Calm After the Storm: Lightning Interrupts Stunning Perth Sunset

After a series of intense thunderstorms hit Perth, Western Australia, this week, a resident of the suburb of Heathridge was enjoying a colorful sunset outside her home on February 27 when Mother Nature let her know the wild weather was not yet over.

Hawra Alumari was recording beautiful clouds outside her home when lightning suddenly struck, making Alumari gasp, as heard in the video uploaded to Twitter. “I almost got a heart attack,” she wrote.

Alumari told Storyful that this was “after the storms” that had hit Perth since February 25, caused by an upper-level low-pressure system that brought down trees in the state capital and left residents “bewildered,” according to reports. Credit: Hawra Alumari via Storyful
