'This Is Not Good': Horses Escape Race Event at Gold Coast Beach

Two horses crossed tram lines and trotted down a busy highway after they escaped from a racing promotion on a beach in Surfer’s Paradise, Queensland.

According to reports, the animals were entered into a Magic Millions event, where horses are ridden along the sand, when they became loose and escaped from the beach.

Video taken by onlooker Mortimer Zukerman shows the two horses, still wearing their numbers, escaping from the beach toward Hamilton Avenue.

The horses crossed two tramlines and travelled down the Gold Coast Highway before they were corralled, reports said.

A Queensland Police spokesperson said the horses were not harmed during their escape and were safely transported back home. Credit: Mortimer Zukerman via Storyful
