If you're a fan of weepy romantic drama The Notebook, we've got some good news for you.

The cult classic film starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams (and the novel it was based on, of course) is getting a Broadway musical adaptation.

It's still a while off from opening, but there's going to be a one-off reading at a stage development season in New York, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.

Excitingly, playing McAdams' character Allison 'Allie' Hamilton in this reading is none other than Sucker Punch and Spring Breakers star Vanessa Hudgens.

Of course, she's no stranger to a musical or two, having starred in the likes of Grease: Live, Rent: Live and – of course – the High School Musical trilogy.

While this is just a one-off development thing for now, we really hope that Baby V signs on to do a full run of the show, or at least a televised live version.

Going back to High School Musical, Disney has revived the property for a TV show on its upcoming streaming service.

The show will actually see the kids putting on a production of High School Musical, featuring brand-new songs and acoustic "rehearsal-room" reinterpretations of songs from the original series.

The cast of the TV show has been revealed and you can get a first-look right here.
