Notting Hill Carnival after parties 2019: The best London events

West London’s bank holiday extravaganza, Notting Hill Carnival, is almost upon us. It’s a day-long celebration of music, food, fashion and dance.

Due to a noise curfew, the various soundsystems that fuel the Carnival shenanigans have to shut down pretty early — by 7.30pm at the very latest.

Luckily, there are numerous after parties kicking off a couple of hours later, leaving you just enough time for a jerk chicken dinner before heading out again.

We've picked out five of our favourites, and listed the others that should be on your radar. Most of them take place on Sunday night, although there are a few going down on Monday evening as well.

Loefah, Fabio and Grooverider, Slimzee and more, Fire and Lightbox

It’s a gathering of UK icons at this party, with dubstep legend Loefah, drum’n’bass heroes Fabio and Grooverider and grime favourite Slimzee topping a heavy bill.

Zernell, Marcel Vogel, Mendel and more, Corsica Studios

The latest edition of Stevie Wonderland, a south London favourite, gets into the Carnival spirit in Elephant and Castle. Mendel’s all-Brazilian set is sure to be a highlight.

Sunday, 3/4 Elephant Road, SE17 1LB, corsicastudios.com

Crazy P, PBR Streetgang, Lisa Loud and more, The Mason's Arms

Less than a mile away from Carnival, just up the Harrow Road, this party is one for those want to stay local. The line-up is enough to tempt you too, with Crazy P and PBR Streetgang topping the bill.

Official Ministry of Sound Carnival Afterparty

Definitely the biggest afterparty of the lot, thrown by one of London’s most famous nightclubs. The headliner is being kept secret for now, but Shenin Amara, Kenny Allstar and Jerome Six are all confirmed.
